About the Event

Elaine Hernandez, MEd, MPH, PhD is a seasoned humanitarian worker with experience in infectious disease control, maternal and child health, emergency health response, and emergency feeding.  She is a member of the Rotary Cadre of Technical Advisors and has monitored projects for the Rotary Foundation in Mexico, Guatemala, and Nicaragua.  She has served as Health Delegate to Mexico with the American Red Cross, Delegate to Honduras with the Canadian Red Cross, and the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning Specialist (M.E.A.L.) in Ukraine with Baptist World Aid, as well as Regional Director in South Texas for the Baylor Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty.  Elaine joined Rotary in 1998 and has served as Club President, Assistant Governor, District International Service Chair, and now is the District Governor-Elect for District 5930 (South Texas).  She was the recipient of the Rotary Alumni Humanitarian Service Award in 2020 and is a major donor to the Rotary Foundation. She is the author of the children's book "Her Butterfly Effect" and is the mother of three grown children and their spouses, and five grandchildren who live in the United States and Canada.
